Day 1: Arrival in Islamabad

Arrive in Islamabad, the capital city of Pakistan, and transfer to the hotel. Meet with the expedition team for a briefing on the upcoming adventure.

Fly from Islamabad to Skardu, a picturesque town nestled in the Karakoram Mountains. Spend the day acclimatizing to the altitude and exploring Skardu’s local markets and sights.

Embark on a scenic jeep ride from Skardu to Askole, the last inhabited village before entering the wilderness of the Karakoram. The journey offers breathtaking views of the surrounding peaks and valleys.

Begin the trekking expedition towards Gasherbrum Base Camp, following the scenic trails along the Baltoro Glacier. Pass through stunning landscapes, including rocky terrain, glacier crossings, and alpine meadows.

Spend several days at Gasherbrum Base Camp for acclimatization and establishing higher camps. Ascend to Camps 1 and 2 to familiarize yourself with the terrain and prepare for the summit push.

Make the summit push, navigating through technical terrain and overcoming challenges posed by altitude and weather conditions. Depending on the weather and team readiness, attempt to reach the summit of Gasherbrum 2.

Descend from the summit and retrace your steps back to Base Camp. Pack up camp and begin the trek back to Askole, where jeeps will be waiting to transport you back to Skardu.

Fly back to Islamabad from Skardu and transfer to the hotel. Enjoy a well-deserved rest and celebrate the successful expedition with the team.

Depart from Islamabad for your onward journey home, carrying with you memories of an unforgettable adventure in the heart of the Karakoram Mountains.

What is the best time to climb Gasherbrum 2?

The optimal climbing season for Gasherbrum 2 is typically during the summer months, from June to August, when weather conditions are relatively stable.

Gasherbrum 2 is considered one of the more technically challenging peaks in the Karakoram Range, requiring advanced mountaineering skills and experience.

Climbers undergo a gradual acclimatization process, ascending slowly and spending time at higher elevations to allow their bodies to adjust to the reduced oxygen levels.
